With the new asbestos abatement regulations now in place, each employer must identify if asbestos is present at the workplace. If asbestos is present the items must be placed in an register. These items must be labeled.
A complete risk assessment must be done on each of the items to determine the risk factors according to the HSG264 standard.
All the identified asbestos must be managed through the asbestos management plan as ordered by the asbestos abatement regulations.
Training must be provided to all employee working in areas where asbestos was identified. Refresh training must be done on a yearly basis.
The asbestos risk assessment must be done on intervals not exceeding 24 months.
